What a waste!

It will be Songkran time again soon. What does it mean? Lots of people throwing water and having fun. But I can’t stop myself thinking of the hundreds of people who will die in road accidents again, just as hundreds died last year and the year before that. And it is not just at Songkran time, it is during every big holiday festival. Most of the people who die are young people. They die before they can live their lives. Who knows what these young people could have done if they had not died early. Every year we see the numbers of dead and injured printed in a newspaper or on the television. But they are not just a statistic, they are real people and their deaths are completely unnecessary. How many of us know someone who had died on a motorcycle or in a car?

I think we all know people who have died early in their lives. Something must be done to stop this. Every year the government and the police say they will do this or do that, but it can not be working because every year hundreds and hundreds die. How can we educate people so that they know not to drink alcohol and then ride their bikes or drive their cars. They need to know how important it is to wear a crash helmet on a motorbike. It is against the law to drink alcohol and drive a car or ride a bike. It is against the law to ride a bike without a helmet. But people are still doing it. Everyday you see people doing stupid things on their bikes or in their cars. Why are these laws not strictly enforced?

If the police really did enforce these laws, think of the money that could be raised by fining people and then this money could be used to educate people of all ages about the need to be safe on the road. Then maybe we might be able to stop this stupid waste of life.

What do you think about this? Let' s share some opinions.

This problem occurs again and again every year..I really sad when I see the accident news on TV. or even newspaper. I just think that if we, drivers are not careless, the bad event will surely not happen.

Remember and realize all the time that ,our lives are valuable, very valuable. Therefore, be careful and have conscious before doing anything.
Have a great and safe holiday..Happy Songkran's day guys!!!

I think even though there are many laws to control this problem, some people still against those laws. I think it is not a government responlity to control deaths during festivals, but it must be a responsibility of people who involve in the problems. If those people have more awareness of safety, the number of deaths will decrease.

It is true for that you said 'The acidents appear so many cases in long weakend.' It is not only in songkarn festival. However, it also occur in everyday also. I think it is form people lack of awaerness to safe their life by wearing a helmet or stop riding or driving when they get drunk. It is a waste time to fine people who do not wear a helmemt. The government should find another way to control and protect about this event.

Finally, I am really sorry for commenting this topic be lately.
